Terms and definitions in messaging
Multichannel messaging service is based on a variety of telecommunication and Internet technologies. In the description of services, we often use abbreviations that may not always be known to you. Here we have compiled a glossary of terms and definitions used in the industry.
By the way, you can create account and send SMS to your customers via Dashboard, plugin or API integration.
Latency
SMS Latency is loosely defined as the amount of time it takes from when a message is submitted to an Aggregator until the message is delivered to the handset. We say loosely because many companies define it more narrowly in their contracts to only include the time taken from when a message is accepted from an enterprise until it is passed onto the delivering SMSC, this is due mostly to the fact it is very difficult to guarantee latency in someone else’s network. Latency is extremely important for some use cases, as a study shows more than 30% of users will give up on the service if they have not received an SMS in 10 seconds.
