Terms and definitions in messaging
Multichannel messaging service is based on a variety of telecommunication and Internet technologies. In the description of services, we often use abbreviations that may not always be known to you. Here we have compiled a glossary of terms and definitions used in the industry.
Mobile Network Code (MNC) is a 2-3 digit code used in combination with Mobile Country Code to identify a mobile network operator uniquely.
An MNC is used in combination with an MCC (a combination known as an "MCC/MNC tuple") to uniquely identify a mobile network operator (carrier) using the GSM, UMTS, and LTE public land mobile networks. Some but not all CDMA, iDEN, and satellite mobile networks are identified with an MCC/MNC tuple as well.
